Kansas City, October 19 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Cyclone 2B formed in the northern Bay of Bengal early today as it approached the southeastern Bangladesh/Myanmar border. The storm has since moved inland and it will dissipate Thursday with remnant moisture expanding across much of northern Myanmar and neighboring areas of southeastern Bangladesh and far eastern India. Very little crop damage is expected, although some flooding may adversely impact the quality of a few rice and sugarcane crops.
At mid-afternoon Wednesday, Tropical Cyclone 2B was located 60 miles south southeast of Chittagong, Bangladesh at 21.4 north, 92.1 east. Movement was northeasterly at 10 mph and maximum sustained wind speeds were reaching 40 mph with some stronger gusts.
The tropical cyclone was quickly weakening this evening and will completely dissipate during the day Thursday. Some heavy rain will impact northwestern Myanmar and neighboring areas of Bangladesh and India, but no crop damaging conditions are anticipated. Rainfall will range from 2.00 to more than 5.00 inches possibly resulting in some flooding. Sugarcane and rice are produced in the vicinity of where landfall has occurred and will be vulnerable to some quality issues until the ground begins to dry down again.
