Tropical Storm Rina To Weaken, Move Toward Central America
Kansas City, October 28 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Storm Rina has moved over the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula and is being sheared apart by strong upper level winds and land interaction. The storm center will move back to the south southwest this weekend and early next week while the convection moves off to the northeast bringing significant rain to Florida. The circulation center will parallel the eastern Yucatan Peninsula coast as it approaches Guatemala, Belize and Honduras. Rain will impact many areas from the Yucatan Peninsula into Central America over time, but much of it will be weak because of the storm’s steady decline.

U.S. Central Plains Moisture Welcome, but A little Disappointing
Kansas City, October 27 (World Weather Inc.) – Rain and snow fell across the U.S. hard red wheat country Wednesday and early this morning. The precipitation was welcome wherever it occurred, but many areas may not have received as much moisture as they would have liked. Many amounts were a little lighter than expected and that too may leave room for some ongoing concern about the long term outlook in wheat areas. Oklahoma and the southeastern half of the Texas Panhandle have done well with rainfall through dawn today and should see additional moisture into the early afternoon today.

Southern Argentina Drying Trend To Continue This Week
Kansas City, October 23 (World Weather Inc.) – Net drying conditions occurred in Buenos Aires and La Pampa this past week and a second week of drying is advertised that will deplete topsoil moisture and raise concern over future crop development. Temperatures will be a little milder this week and that should slow some of the drying.

Brazil Rain This Week To Stop Most of Drying Trend
Kansas City, October 23 (World Weather Inc.) – No rain fell over the past week in southern or west-central portions of Brazil resulting in a steady rate of declining soil moisture. The ground has firmed up notably, but significant rain is forthcoming that should restore abundant soil moisture and maintain a fine outlook for crop development in most areas over the coming week.

Tropical Cyclone 2B Dissipating Over NW Myanmar
Kansas City, October 19 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Cyclone 2B formed in the northern Bay of Bengal early today as it approached the southeastern Bangladesh/Myanmar border. The storm has since moved inland and it will dissipate Thursday with remnant moisture expanding across much of northern Myanmar and neighboring areas of southeastern Bangladesh and far eastern India. Very little crop damage is expected, although some flooding may adversely impact the quality of a few rice and sugarcane crops.

Eastern U.S. Midwest Face More Field Working Delay
Kansas City, October 18 (World Weather Inc.) – Eastern U.S. Midwest wheat areas are facing additional rainfall over the coming week to ten days causing some new delay to planting and raising concern about field and crop conditions in Michigan, Ohio and northeastern Indiana. Crop conditions elsewhere in the eastern states will remain favorable with good field progress prevailing, despite some brief periods of rain. Summer crop harvesting in these areas will be equally impacted by the waves of rain delaying field progress in some areas more than others.

Kansas City, October 16 (World Weather Inc.) – Rain over the past week increased across Brazil, as predicted, and soil conditions are now much improved over those of early October. Tropical Disturbance Over Yucatan May Impact Florida
Kansas City, October 16 (World Weather Inc.) – The combined remnant low pressure centers from the dissipated Tropical Cyclones Jove and Depression 12E have produced some very heavy rain during the weekend over northern parts of Central America and the Yucatan Peninsula. The system now has potential to become a new tropical cyclone as it drifts away from the Yucatan Peninsula early this week. The developing storm could bring heavy rain to Florida citrus and sugarcane areas, as well as some grain, oilseed and cotton producing areas in neighboring areas of Georgia and coastal areas of the Carolinas.

Tropical Depression Banyan To End Up In Central Vietnam
Kansas City, October 14 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Depression Banyan has been over open water west of the Philippines the past two days and it will finally turn to the west southwest during the weekend taking the system toward central Vietnam. A general weakening trend is expected after possibly returning to tropical storm intensity briefly Saturday and/or Sunday. The system will arrive over land as a very weak system. It would not be surprising to see the tropical cyclone dissipate before reaching land, although moderate to locally heavy rainfall will still occur.

U.S. Drought Not Over; Upper Midwest, Delta Too Dry
Kansas City, October 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Drought in the U.S. has not ended with the past week of substantial rain in the Great Plains, but it has changed for a little while. The focus of attention should remain on the southern Plains since the region will likely dry back down in the next few weeks. In the meantime, a closer watch on both the Upper Midwest and Delta is now warranted because of the strengthening La Nina event and the promises that will come with it may not offer serious improvements in soil moisture.

Tropical Depression Spreads Rain to South Mexico; Jova Inland
Kansas City, October 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Hurricane Jova moved completely inland this morning and was downgraded to tropical storm status. The storm was expected to dissipate in the next 24 hours with its remnant moisture bringing rain into central parts of the nation easing some dryness that has been persisting for quite a while. In the meantime, Tropical Depression 12E will produce additional heavy rain in southern Mexico where coffee, sugarcane and rice are produced. Crop damage may be greater from Jova in Jalisco where corn and sorghum are produced than in southern Mexico.

Eastern Ukraine to lower Volga River Basin Still Too Dry
Kansas City, October 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Most of the western Commonwealth of Independent States have received timely rainfall this autumn and winter crops are favorably established. The exception, however, remains in from eastern Ukraine into the lower Volga River Basin and in parts of western Kazakhstan where dryness remains as it has for quite a while. The lower Volga River Basin has been in a drought since June 2010 and another dismal winter grain crop is probable because of poor planting moisture in winter wheat and rye production areas.

Argentina Topsoil Moisture Lifted Close To Optimum Level
Kansas City, October 11 (World Weather Inc.) – Soil moisture in Argentina has been lifted during the past week, thanks to widespread rain. The environment has turned much more favorable for spring planting and early season grain and oilseed development after a period of poor rainfall occurred earlier this season. Serious dryness has been reduced to northwestern parts of the nation, although there are still some ongoing drier biased conditions in some southwestern areas, as well.

U.S. Central, South Plains Get Welcome Relief From Dryness
Kansas City, October 10 (World Weather Inc.) – Welcome relief to dryness has come to a very large portion of the central and southern U.S. Plains during the weekend as the most significant rain event to impact the region since November 2010 was observed. With La Nina expected to prevail through the balance of autumn and winter the odds are stacked up against another rain event as significant as that of the past few days from occurring again for quite a while and that makes its significance all the greater. Many areas were relieved from months of dryness, but amounts were a little light from the Texas Panhandle into southwestern Kansas and especially in eastern Colorado where more rain is needed.

Kansas City, October 9 (World Weather Inc.) – A low pressure system produced torrential rain and strong wind along the east-central Florida coast during the weekend causing some damage. Some of the heavy rain fell further inland into citrus and some sugarcane areas, but no damage to the crops was suspected.
